This series to explore whether a particular cigar is humidor worthy. Cost these days is an issue for many so let's see if we can highlight some absolute standouts. This should particularly assist those new to the cigar world.

To be fair, most of the cigars we have featured to date have scored exceptionally well. Surprisingly well!

Scoring is: 1-3 (Poor)   4-6 (Average to good)   7-10  (very good to excellent)  Use the Poll.

H. Upmann Majestic is considered a "value" cigar in the current world of Cuban cigars with this corona (40 × 140 mm (5½″)) coming in at roughly under $10 USD a stick in the duty free international market.

H. Upmann in this format should be a no brainer. When you hit a good cigar/box, they are a fine cigar. Mind you, I have never experienced a wonderful, complex interplay of flavours that keeps me engaged or enamoured enough to rush back for the next. It is more akin to bumping into that rarely seen second cousin at a funeral wake who still works after 20 years as a data processor at the regional bank and lives with his mum. Nice to catch up but I am not expecting a riveting conversation. I have another problem with the H. Upmann Majestic and that is construction consistency. In my experience, .....there is none. If the rollers don't give a flying fig, then I am not sure why the consumer should. That aside, get a great box and they are good cigars. Get a dodgy box and 30% will require your draw poker or for those with no patience like me.....a toss into the ashtray and a curse to the Cuban cigar Gods.

Your experience? Have you ever had a sensational H. Upmann Majestic? How have you found consistency in blend and construction? In your experience, is the relatively low price point worth throwing the dice on?

I'd rate the H. Upmann Majestic a solid 7, not bad but not great. I agree that construction is hit and miss, but when they're good they display the Upmann taste profile well. That being said, I think the Regalias sit at the same price point, but I think they are better tasting. I find them less rough around the edges.

The Half Coronas are even better, I just don't prefer the smaller size.

For me the HU Majestic is my safe cigar. Ignoring some construction issues, I know I’m getting a cheap, easy smoke time and again. I love them on the golf course.

I smoked 2 sticks from a young box. They were good but a little harsh. So far, I prefer H. Upmann Regalias and Half Coronas.

I pretty much agree here, I'm holding out hope that they will become awesome with some good age on them.

I have a SUB JAN 2012 box that have a few left, they are gorgeous cigars at this stage, really good Upmann taste. Never had them fresh as I bought this box around 2017 when you would find boxes with this age regularly. I've just recently picked up a few more which are a few months old, might leave these to rest given the comments from others. Maybe these just need a little time.

I think I’ve smoked between 3 and 4 boxes of these over the past year. All of them fairly fresh. Under 2 years old. I can only remember one having constructions issues. For a cheap smoke I think they’re fantastic. Unlike the Regalias and the Half Coronas, they have been fairly easy for me to obtain mostly crossing the border to Sweden and picking them up there.

If I had the space for them I would gladly pick up 20 boxes of these and see how they do with age. At he current Habanos pricing, I find myself reaching for these more often than not, and with local prices on NC’s, I’ve been struggling to find a cigar at the same price point that I enjoy more.
