@Capn_Jackson is caught up, so let's move on to his next pick.

This didn't last, it had no chance. Starts with chestnut mocha and a brick on the gas pedal. Incredibly smooth and rich. Smokes to the nub smooth as silk.

I wish I had another, I doubt I'll see these again.

Great pic for a great cigar

Are these discontinued, or are they in stock anywhere?

Most of this band was discontinued in 2017. Lanceros in this band are still regular production, but thin on the ground & a totally different blend. A Petit Robusto of this blend is available in very small amounts a couple times a year in a cello bundle, good luck!

I will have to keep my eye out, your review has me wanting these, but I really love a lancero so maybe I will be in luck somewhere if I can find that number 6.

The one on the far right is still produced, most Tatuaje dealers will have them on the regular. I did not find these in the wild, these only came up when trading specifically to find old Tatuaje for Duo after I had done a couple deals for old Tatuaje that was liquid.

I have the one on the far right, it's from some years back. I think the band is the same or similar but don't recall. I bought quite a bit from that marca back in 2010-2014.

Smokeeeeee ittttt!

I might just do that! Been eyeing it speculatively for awhile. Do you know the era of that particular type of band? It was in with some of my older (2010-2014) purchases, so I'm thinking it was from around then, but I'm not 100% certain as I buy a lot of cigars. Probably too many. 😆

El Triunfador (no 4?)

This stick has a nice dark brown wrapper on it, not quite maduro, but the color of some excellent Juan Lopez dark smokes I’ve had in the past. Maybe even a little purplish hue. The celo, on the other hand, is the color of the amber encasing the prehistoric mosquito on John Hammond’s cane. Awesome!

Digging right in, the light-up puff promises notes of peat, molasses, and spiced cake. Tiny bit of pepper.

The first third is dominated by that peaty moss, along with some coffee, but the finish has got an essence of Pernod. Wouldn’t straight-up say anise, but more of a juicy black licorice finish. Very interesting. So far away from CC vibes, blatantly bold. Not strong in nicotine, just full of soup. So much soup. Speaking of soup, getting some barley notes as I go along too.

The second act is more meaty. Definitely some salted, crusty bark on a well-seared filet, along with some dark raisin, maybe rum raisin cake. Getting bigger in terms of strength, but not over the line just yet. Shitake mushroom at the halfway point. Mung bean or garbanzo bean on the finish, and unfortunately a lot of white pepper.

Last third brings back that licorice, or maybe now it’s more of an anise. Some dark, dark molasses and roasted coffee. Definitely anise now. The strength has kicked up several notches and doesn’t let go, as I get to the last inch. Everything has become kind of muddled together, smooth though, but completely coating the palate. Rich flavors, but like I said earlier, soupy. Pepper still floating on top of everything like a little halo. This would not make a good first stick of the day. Perhaps after a steak and potatoes, accompanied with a stout or a malty ale. Enjoyable, but not really my thing. Unique, and definitely a “change of pace” cigar for me.
