Popular Post chris12381 Posted October 13, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2025 Back in January 2020, I traveled with a high school friend and a small film crew to Havana and Pinar del Río for nearly ten days of nonstop filming. We were in Cuba to document as many workshops, garages, studios, and kitchens as we could, hoping to capture what people in the U.S. and elsewhere call “maker culture.” In Cuba, it isn’t a trend or a hobby. It’s simply survival, a culture of creation, repair, and improvisation built into daily life. At the time, none of us could have guessed that just a few months later, the world would be completely turned upside down. Five years on, my friend decided to assemble one of those stories for his YouTube channel. I think you might enjoy it. Full disclosure: I have a small credit in this film. 7
