Cigar Hold-em ;)

From what you actually hold in your humidor ;)

Hypothetical.

You have the opportunity to throw out up to three boxes/cigars to be replaced at random (but at the same price point today)  from the cigar gambling God.

1. What are the two to three boxes/cigars you are throwing out.

2 Conceptually, what are the Ace pair (or three) cigars in your humidor FROM YOUR CURRENT ROTATION  that you would not throw out?

*****5 cigars in play only ;)

Throwing Out:

1. H. Upmann Noella LCDH Jar.  I have a jar that is producing 100% plugged cigars. That is hard consistency to achieve.

2. 2014 Saint Luis Rey Regio.  Now I love the Regio but this box was bad when I bought it and it is still bad today. 14 remaining.

Holding

1. CORO

2. D4

3. Mag 46

Throwing out:

Bolivar PC - not a size I like and the flavour has been distinctly linear from the ones in this box.

Diplomaticos No 2- I've smoked 18 of this box and they've been absolutely delightful. The last few though have been stronger than a kick from a heavy bodied NC and the flavour has been sorely lacking (they're now at the 6 year mark). I'm wondering if they're undergoing second fermentation but if anything were to get the hammer at this point in time its these.

Holding:

VR Unicos

Partagas E2

H Upmann Mag 50/ HDM Rio de Seco (cheating I know but both are very very good right now)

Throw away:

Hoyo Petit Robusto - tastes like a mouthful of cedar closet

PSD6 - a few have been total wind tunnels and the others taste like cigarettes

Holding:

Party Shorts

Media Luna

Bolivar LE 2014

Throw away:

Anything Hoyo - I’ve not had good luck on construction and not the flavor profile for my palate

RyJ Cedros de Luxe - bought early in my cigar journey and they are not great. Very, very bland - no real flavor for me

Holding:

PSD4

HU Magnum 54

QD52

Tossing:

PSD4s. Pretty sure it's a PSP/HQ box from 20/21 but it has just not been my jam. 🫣 I've easily given away half the box I'd estimate.

Monte 2s. Again 20/21 production. But the last one I smoked over a year ago was meh.

Holding

Siglo III. RAT DIC box and are elegant as can be. Everything I look for in a cigar honestly.

HU2s. Got about a half a box of LUB 14 and EPO 22. Both are really damn good.

HUPC. Another LUB 14 box that is PSP. I've only got 7 left in the box. But soooo good. I'm bummed I wasn't in the game in 2014/15. Was a heckuva year.

Throw away:

Lfdc Elegidos. Awful box or awful cigar but I don't intend to dig deeper to figure out which it is...

P2. I just don't get this cigar.

Holding:

HU2s. Maybe the best box I ever purchased.

Montecristo Especial tied with Qdo 52s.

Siglo VIs. Probably and mostly because I won't purchase another box ever again at today's prices.

Fold 'em:
Quai D'Orsay No. 50 5/2022 - underfilled, 35 minutes of pull on an air tunnel
Trinidad Esmeralda 4/2024 OME - while I wouldn't throw it away, I'd gladly trade it for something else, with full disclosure; too tightly packed, thin on smoke and flavor, and inferior to a 2023 ESM box of deliciousness

Hold 'em:
Trinidad La Trova 8/2021 BSM - smoking beautifully
Partagas D4 4/2022 URT - don't know if the 2022 releases are noticeably better than earlier or later ones, but this one would be hard to beat

I'd fold -

Every petit robusto I ever purchased for any other random selection.

Holding the aces:

E2

HU2

Nudie Lancero Rosado

Throwing Out:

D4 - These have been relegated to my golf course cigars / friends give away sticks. I just don't understand all the fuss about this cigar.

BBF - rarely reach for these anymore. can't explain why.

Holding:

CoRo

Siglo IV

Esmeralda
