JohnS Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago COMMUNITY REACTS: Two people shot in Greenwood District overnight By: Isabel Flores - Posted 1:32 AM, Sep 08, 2025 and last updated 2:16 AM, Sep 09, 2025 TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police said two people were injured in a shooting in the Greenwood District early on September 7. According to police, the shooting happened outside the cigar lounge located near Greenwood and Archer just after midnight on Sep. 7. Police said officers found one man who'd been shot and learned it happened during a fight outside the cigar lounge. While investigating, officers were notified of a second victim already being transported to the hospital. Police said both men are stable and in good condition. No suspects have been identified. 2 News' Isabel Flores spoke to the owner of Tisdale's Cigar Lounge, Rodney Tisdale. He said his respect goes out to the families of everyone involved, but wants to emphasize the shooting had nothing to do with his business. “I'm providing a space for our community here on Black Wall Street, and it's very disheartening to know that some people can't respect that, or will come in here and try to devalue it, and go outside and do something as such that does not represent us in that way," he said. "Such behavior won't be tolerated or accepted around here, and we remain committed, honestly, to provide a safe, upscale and welcome space for the community." He said he’s tried to alert the city about the loitering problem downtown. “For some reason, down here on Greenwood and Archer and the Blue Dome District and different places, anytime you provide a space for people to come and have a good time or enjoy, others will come and just loiter outside," he said. "It's very disappointing, it's disheartening to see that one to two individuals would change the views of a whole entire community and what is safe." Mason Harmon lives in the Greenwood District and has a great view of downtown. He reached out to 2 News Oklahoma to talk about what he saw early Sunday morning. “I heard about six consecutive gunshots go off," he said. "I get to my balcony, if there's anything that I can film to help identify what's happening, to help support the community.” He said he provided authorities with footage he took to try to help them identify suspects and unravel what happened. “I thought ‘oh my God, this is somebody’s brother, somebody’s son, maybe somebody’s father, this is a human’", he said. "We have to humanize each other and do better when it comes to violence prevention, intervention and look at these situations and stop blaming the youth.” Both Tisdale and Harmon agree there has to be something done to stop the violence. “Tulsa is known for its creativity and its innovation, and there's a lot better ways to do that than just doing a curfew on the youth, assuming that's the problem, because that's not the problem," said Harmon. “We should start recognizing when stuff is not right," said Tisdale. "You can feel it, you can sense it, and you can see the movement.” Officers are still investigating, and anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
