This wine bar has whiskey and a cigar lounge — and it’s coming to Alliance

A new wine bar is coming soon to Alliance in north Fort Worth as the area continues to expand. 9 Ounce and Somm will soon set up shop at Alliance just west of I-35, Fort Worth real estate firm LanCarte Commercial confirmed to the Star-Telegram in an email. 9 Ounce (9577 Harmon Road, Suite 105, Fort Worth) will be located in a commercial development off Heritage Trace Parkway and Harmon Road that will also include a medical tenant and a possible cigar shop.

This commercial development is across the street from another newly opened center that includes Hyderabad House Biryani Place, CVS and a primary care clinic. Here’s what we know about the new wine bar.

9 Ounce and Somm in Alliance

9 Ounce and Somm will be a wine, whiskey and cigar bar. This will be a great addition for northern Fort Worth neighbors who don’t want to drive out of the area for a glass of wine. The lounge will offer glasses, bottles and flights of a rotating wine menu. 9 Ounce will also feature whiskey tastings and flights as well as cocktails, beer and a full-service bar. Plus: small bites and charcuterie.

As for cigars, there will be a corner in the back patio for guests to sip and puff. Keller interior design firm Design Studio is decorating the 1,300-square-foot space with bright, modern furniture. There will be a bar, fireplace and lounge seats inside and on the patio. 9 Ounce will be hiring soon and is slated to open before the end of the year. Currently, the space is bare bones and still being built.

North Fort Worth’s growth

The Alliance neighborhood has been expanding a great deal in the last three decades with new homes, warehouses, corporate campuses, and industrial airports and BNSF Railway. This part of Fort Worth is double the size of Manhattan; more than 14,600 homes have been built in Alliance since 1990. At least 575 companies operate there, and Alliance has paid $3.8 billion in property taxes since it began 35 years ago. Big-name retailers have also sprouted up, like Fort Worth’s first H-E-B. And most recently, SGS Studios and 101 Studios are partnering with Hillwood and Paramount Television to open the largest film campus in Texas at Alliance.
