JohnS Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Foundation Launches Wise Man Lancero The Nicaraguan brand that was rebooted last year now has a fifth size Aug 15, 2025 - By Gregory Mottola Photos/Foundation First shipments of The Wise Man Lanceros are heading to select retailers, with a broader release planned for the fall. The long, thin size is available in both Corojo and Maduro wrappers. It’s the newest launch from Foundation Cigar Co., which previewed the cigars at the PCA trade show in April. Lanceros are long, skinny smokes, named for the Spanish word for lance, as the cigars somewhat resemble the weapons employed by medieval knights on horseback. The new Wise Man Lancero measures 7 inches by 40 ring gauge, and has a pigtail cap. The original Cuban size, first rolled in Havana in the 1960s, is 7 1/2 by 38. The Wise Man brand is made in Nicaragua by My Father Cigars for Foundation, a 10-year-old company owned by Nicholas Melillo. Previously, The Wise Man was manufactured by Aganorsa Leaf, but Foundation moved production over to My Father Cigars last year, giving it new packaging and a refreshed look. The Wise Man Corojo is an all-Nicaraguan blend covered in a Corojo ’99 wrapper, while The Wise Man Maduro consists of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Mexican San Andrés binder and Nicaraguan filler. All the Nicaraguan tobacco was grown by the Garcia family, owners of My Father Cigars. Regardless of wrapper style, each cigar has a suggested retail price of $14.50. They come in boxes of 20. This brings both lines up to five sizes, joining the Double Corona, Toro, Robusto and Corona. Source: https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/foundation-launches-wise-man-lancero 1
JohnS Posted August 18 Author Posted August 18 Foundation Cigar Company Begins Shipping New Wise Man Lancero August 14, 2025 - Press Release Foundation Cigar Company is proud to announce that the Wise Man Corojo Lancero and Wise Man Maduro Lancero vitolas are officially shipping this week to select tobacconists across the United States. Originally unveiled at the 2025 PCA Trade Show in New Orleans, these new 7 x 40 Lanceros are the latest additions to the Wise Man portfolio. “These vitolas represent a deep connection to my roots as a blender and to my grandfather, who always appreciated the elegance of the Lancero format,” said Nicholas Melillo, Founder and Master Blender of Foundation Cigar Company. “We’ve taken two of our most complex blends—Corojo and Maduro—and refined them into something truly special. Now it’s time to share that experience with cigar lovers across the country.” The Wise Man Corojo Lancero is a Nicaraguan puro, featuring a Corojo 99 wrapper over filler tobaccos from Estelí and Jalapa. The Wise Man Maduro Lancero pairs a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with a San Andrés binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Both vitolas are offered in 20-count boxes. Retailers selected for the initial rollout will begin receiving product this week, with broader availability expected later this fall. queen_annes_revenge Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I love Foundation but the new Wise Man didn't excite me much. I'm just waiting on them dropping that 10th anniversary St George box... 1
