A cigar blended to be specifically drunk with Col. E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch bourbon? Is it for real? For me, I really have a soft spot for Buffalo Trace Distillery (Blanton's, Col. E.H. Taylor and George T.Stagg amongst the bourbons I enjoy from time to time), so I found this article intriguing. Have any of you tried this cigar? If so, does it actually pair well with Col. E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch bourbon?

E.H. Taylor San Andrés Heads to Stores

Last week, Meier & Dutch began shipping the new E.H. Taylor San Andrés, or at least two-thirds of it.

The three-vitola line was shown off at the 2025 PCA Convention & Trade Show in three vitolas. As of now, only two vitolas are available:

  • E.H. Taylor San Andrés Corona (6 x 46) — $13.50 (Box of 15, $202.50)
  • E.H. Taylor San Andrés Robusto (5 x 50) — $13 (Box of 15, $195)

The third vitola— a 6 x 56 toro gordo that has an MSRP of $14.50—is expected to arrive later this month or in August.

As for the cigar, it uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a criollo 98 binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It is made at TABACALERA LA ISLA in the Dominican Republic. This is the latest cigar in Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s long-running collaboration with Sazerac Co.’s Buffalo Trace Distillery, which makes the E.H. Taylor bourbon.

While some of those cigars have included barrel-aged tobacco, the E.H. Taylor San Andrés does not. Instead, it’s made to be paired with E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch bourbon.

Last year, all three companies—Meier & Dutch, Sazerac and TABACALERA LA iSLA—worked together to release the E.H. Taylor Corojo.

This is interesting. I’m partial to single malt scotch and Irish whiskeys, but my brother recently turned me on to EH Taylor and a few others - including a concoction of Buffalo Trace Whiskeys to make a “poor man’s pappy”.

So I’m definitely intrigued, but at the same time I have enough on my plate trying to match habanos to different drinks!
