Usually these are New World cigar products, but occasional Habanos S.A. commissions some interesting releases. Surely this one from Tatuaje qualifies for the cigar product you need to sneak into the house when your better half is keeping tabs on your cigar acquisitions! Tatuaje Pork Tenderloin Returns For 2025 May 14, 2025 - By Thomas Pappalardo Photos/Tatuaje Most cigars come in boxes, some come in bundles, but Pete Johnson’s Pork Tenderloin comes curiously packaged in white butcher paper, much like you would find at a high-end meat market. Johnson introduced the cigar in 2010, initially intended as an exclusive for a Boston retailer. But the Pork Tenderloin quickly gained popularity with consumers, enough so to warrant wider releases in 2016 and 2017 as an event-only cigar. Now the public will get a third helping as Pork Tenderloin returns this year. It’s expected to begin shipping to retailers next week. “The name is truly fitting for the cigar,” Johnson tells Cigar Aficionado. He describes the smoke as having “rich, bold flavors with that broadleaf sweetness and aroma of smoked meat.” Topped with a pigtail cap, Pork Tenderloin measures 5 1/8 inches by 52 ring gauge. The 2025 edition features the same blend as the original: a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler. (A version called Lome de Cerdo, wrapped in Mexican San Andrés, was released in 2023.) Don’t let the paper wrapping fool you—be sure to read the label so as not to confuse it with your groceries and accidentally stick it in the freezer. This 5 1/8 x 52 vitola first appeared in 2010 for a very limited store exclusive and immediately rocketed to be one of the most coveted cigars from the brand. The Pork Tenderloin was produced again in very small numbers for the company’s “Bus Tours” in 2016 and 2017, where the Tatuaje crew traveled around the country visiting retailers for events where a small number of bundles were available at each location. In 2023, a version called “Lome de Cerdo”, featuring a San Andrés wrapper from Mexico was released nationwide. However, they were reviewing the Lomo de Cerdo which was based on the Pork Tenderloin, but with Mexican San Andrés wrapper that apparently shifted the flavor profile. “In essence, the Lomo de Cerdo is a variation of the Pork Tenderloin, using a different wrapper leaf to change the overall flavor experience while keeping the same blend of tobacco for the binder and filler. The Pork Tenderloin, with its Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, is known for its sweeter, more nuanced profile, while the Lomo de Cerdo offers a richer, more complex flavor with the Mexican San Andrés wrapper.”Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
