JohnS Posted Saturday at 02:16 AM Posted Saturday at 02:16 AM Xander Schauffele will include this very 'on brand' gift at his PGA champions dinner Story by Tod Leonard We will maintain for all time that some of the best and funniest photos ever taken of Xander Schauffele don’t involve a golf club or ball. If you’ve looked at the main photo of the two-time major winner that accompanies this story, we dare you not to smile—the puff of smoke captured perfect, Schauffele feigning some sort of seriousness amid the U.S. team celebrating their win in the 2024 Presidents Cup. Further below here is what must have been a hilarious exchange between the animated Schauffele, cigar in hand, and Justin Thomas, gripping a large Moet champagne bottle. They’d clearly taken a few guzzles on the Sunday of their triumph over Europe at Whistling Straits in 2021. Anyway, Schauffele, celebrations and cigars seem to go hand in hand, and it is thus not surprising in the least that the Californian is incorporating stogies at the champions dinner he will host next week after winning the Wanamaker Trophy last May at Valhalla Golf Club. Richard Heathcote Ahead of this week’s signature Truist Championship, Schauffele was asked what he planned as a menu for the dinner. “I didn’t do anything unique,” he said. “I’d say it was sort of middle of the road—a steak option, a fish option. I wanted everyone to be happy or to be able to eat whatever they’d like.” Then he added, “I think the gift is pretty fitting for everyone.” Prodded for details, Schauffele revealed, “Pretty on brand, I guess—a humidor and some cigars.” Yep, that’s as fitting as Scottie Scheffler including cheeseburger sliders in his champions dinner at the Masters this year. Many in the room will no doubt be stoked, though we’re wondering if there are some who won’t partake. After all, there should be a couple of 80-somethings on hand in Jack Nicklaus and fitness fanatic Gary Player. No matter to Schauffele. “I think they'll enjoy it,” he said of the champions crew, “and if they don't like it, they can re-gift it pretty easily.” This article was originally published on golfdigest.com Source: https://www.australiangolfdigest.com.au/pgachampionship2025-xander-schauffele-champions-dinner-gift-cigars-menu/ 3
