Popular Post eaglebear29 Posted April 15 Popular Post Posted April 15 Plasencia Reserva Original Nestico 36 x 4.5in A Nicaraguan Puro. Only info on the wrapper/binder/filler is that the tobacco used gets an additional 5 years of aging post-fermentation. Side note: It’s the world’s only certified organic premium long-filler cigar blend. I’m sure that’s a pain in the ass to get. I heard the certification process to get anything certified organic is a headache and a huge process or I’m sure you’d see this label on a lot more cigars. Great construction as always with Placencia kept to 65% humidity. I’ve been really excited to try these. I don’t think I’ve had one for at least 3 months and 12 months before that I was bummed I only had 5 left. This box is from my very first purchase where I loved these so much I got 3 boxes. I was digging around a bin and found these thinking I smoked them all! This cigar box of 25 is dated March 22. This will be fun because my pallet has changed quite a bit in the last year especially the last six months it seems and so have these cigars, hopefully for the better. Less cedar. There’s a strong tobacco smell and on the cold draw. Things seem more smoothed out or mellow. More hints of caramel on the nose and cold draw. Initial light up: A nice medium roast coffee every other puff it tastes like there’s an extra shot of espresso in there. A little caramel and cream is coming into the mix. End of first 3rd: It’s definitely now a good single shot of espresso with very faint undertones of the caramel and cream. The coffee being the main tone. It’s very smooth. Medium+ in strength. Every 3 to 4 puffs is a shot of shot of espresso with the faint undertones and then on the fourth or fifth I’ll get a whole bunch of cream with the caramel in there. Great so far. End of second 3rd: A lot of cream and caramel with that coffee, or should I say espresso for quite a few puffs; then back to a couple puffs of caramel creme. Very good. A tad under full in strength. End of final 3rd: Wow. It’s a triple shot espresso now, very smooth, a little harder to pick up the other flavors that are still there just very, very subtle in the mix. Full in strength. Nub/pipe-worthy: Yes absolutely. It skipped the corn cob nubber and went straight into the pipe. All the same flavors. Final thoughts: I truly enjoy the back-and-forth on the strength of the coffee or espresso and then to the cream and caramel espresso. The subtle cedar that was there is gone and the flavors have blended to get her more beautifully. Will have to get 3 more boxes to age while I dip into this one. Great short smoke cigars that pack a punch. Time: 41 min in the Alaskan wind as the rain comes and goes. Final score: 91/100 5
