Congrats to Rocky, 30 years in the biz is impressive! I remember sampling some of his stuff early in my journey. Does anyone on the board try his offerings? Curious to hear how the new blends are in the last 15 years or so.

Cheers!

Rocky's top tier releases over the past 5-7 years has been impressive. Serious upgrade on previous. I exclude his recent  $100 offering as I haven't tried them.

Rocky as an individual is not to everyone's taste and that is fair enough. However, no one in the US market has provided resources to fight FDA proposed changes more than Rocky. Many other "majors" should hang their head in shame. For that reason alone I will always fly the Rocky flag.

I can't comment on the individual portion, but with his blends I'll agree - not to everyone's taste. You have to respect the hustle. I don't recall him ever growing through acquisition, so 30 years on natural growth means he's giving his audience what they want. That's tough to do in any industry.

Cheers!

And Kudos that he produces and sells 20 million cigars a year 🍷

Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Heading To Shops

Rocky Patel celebrates three decades in the cigar business with a new line that features exceptionally aged tobacco

Thirty years ago, nobody in the cigar industry knew who Rocky Patel was. He walked away from a job as an entertainment lawyer and decided to reinvent himself. Today, Patel is one of the most well-known people in the cigar world. To celebrate three decades of toil and success, the Cigar Aficionado Hall-of-Famer created the Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary, a three-size line of box-pressed cigars rolled with well-aged tobaccos. The new cigars were previewed at the PCA trade show in April and begin shipping out to retailers on Monday.

The anniversary smokes are dark and box-pressed, rolled with wrappers grown in Mexico’s San Andrés Valley. There are two binders from Nicaragua, leaves that the company says have more than seven years of age. Underneath is a filler blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, aged more than five years. The line is intended to be medium-to-full in body, and consists of a Robusto (5 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge, $18), a Toro (6 1/2 by 52, $19) and a Sixty (6 by 60, $20). All sizes come in 20-count boxes.

There’s also a limited-edition Toro with even older tobaccos. Each Toro comes in its own rectangular tubo and has a suggested retail price of $47.50 apiece. They’re packaged in 10-count boxes. Only 1,000 boxes will be released. Both the regular-production and limited-edition cigars are made at Patel’s Tavicusa factory in Nicaragua.

Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Shipping Next Week

November 7, 2025 - Charlie Minato

During its 30 years in business, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc. has experienced its fair share of shipping delays, most recently for the cigar made in honor of its three decades of existence. However, that particular shipping delay has been resolved, and the Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary is ready for release.

Next week, the company will begin shipping the new Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary, which includes four cigars. Three of them are a regular production line, while there’s also a limited edition version that uses a different blend.

The core Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over two binders from Nicaragua and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. The company says that the wrapper is aged for seven years, while the fillers are aged for at least five years. It is made at the company’s Tabacallera Villa Cuba S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

It is offered in three regular production box-pressed vitolas:

  • Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Toro (6 1/2 x 52) — $19 (Box of 20, $380)
  • Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Sixty (6 x 60) — $20 (Box of 20, $400)
  • Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Robusto (5 1/2 x 50) — $18 (Box of 20, $360)

Of note, these prices are $1 more per cigar than when the cigar was announced in April.

Also shipping is the Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary Limited Edition. It is a 6 1/2 x 52 toro, meaning that there are two different Rocky Patel Thirtieth Anniversary cigars in the exact same vitola, though they are not the same cigar. The Limited Edition version also uses a Mexican wrapper and two binders, though one binder is from Connecticut and the other is from Nicaragua. The fillers are from 2018, mostly leaves from the company’s farms in Nicaragua, though there’s also some tobacco from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras.

It is priced at $47.50 per cigar, each of which comes packaged in an individual tube. The company is releasing 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars. Unlike the standard boxes, the Limited Edition comes packed in leather boxes.

If you are unsure which 6 1/2 x 52 toro you are smoking: check the bands, as they are different.

While the cigars will begin shipping on Monday, the company hosted a launch event earlier this week at Smoke on the Water in Weston, Fla.

While these cigars pay tribute to the 30th anniversary of the company, it wasn’t always known as Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc. In 1995, Rocky Patel, the person, teamed up with Phil Zanghi—owner of Debonaire—to start Indian Tabac Cigar Co. The company survived the downfall of the boom, though Patel and Zanghi eventually split, and Patel later changed the name of the company to Rocky Patel Premium Cigars, Inc. The company has regularly released cigars for its major anniversaries, including Decade, Fifteenth Anniversary, Twentieth Anniversary and Quarter Century.

I remember being at a lounge event and buying my first box of Indian Tabac Super Fuertes directly from him; I was buying some cigars for my anniversary and he flat out asked me why none of them were his! I don’t remember the exact number, but I remember he told the cigar shop owner to give me a hella deal on the box because it was my anniversary. I’ve been a fan since then. I always have some Edge Corojo sticks in the humidor.
