Foundation Tabernacle Broadleaf Robusto

Picked up this stick a few months ago in Cali.

Size: Robusto 5in (127mm) x 50

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro

Binder: Mexican 

Filler: Nicaraguan

Initial light up:

Musty earth with faint hints of cocoa. Shifting from musty earth to cocoa and coffee, no cream and sugar. Turning more into a straight coffee stick, with faint hints of straight pure cocoa. The residue on my tongue reminds me of that English glass can of clotted creme. Almost like there’s a tad bit in here but it’s not really noticeable as if I put in watered down milk, I mean 2%. 

Side note: 

Right before sitting on a log and enjoying the sun, I heard a young brown bear grunt. Right on. Listening, 2 min later I hear another more faint this other one sounds a little older. Hopefully he’s going away. Sounds like the bigger one might eat the straggler teenager that didn’t hibernate for the winter that’s been roaming around. 

End of first 3rd: 

Slight crispy brownie singed edge underneath the cocoa and coffee. Nice dark chocolate mocha with no cream ever so often. Medium+ to start. 

End of second 3rd: 

Interesting very faint blueberry note. Was not expecting this but I won’t complain. Now the blueberry note is gone and it keeps going back-and-forth between musty earth and milk chocolate cocoa. Blueberry note under the dark chocolate is back and faint for a little while. Back for longer this time now gone again. Medium+ to full in strength. 

End of final 3rd: 

There’s more of a hint of milk with the coffee and cocoa. It dances between musky dark chocolate with the crisped dark brownie edge. Full in strength.

Nub/Pipe-worthy:

Yes on both. No ammonia in the nub stage. I’ll save the rest for the pipe later after dinner this evening.  

Final thoughts: 

A good cigar that didn’t have any ammonia. Went back and forth between smooth and lots of dark flavors. This was better than my last tabernacle, I’d like to give them another chance and give some a long nap to see if any more notes come out. Would’ve been a 90 but I’ll give it a 91 for the random blueberry note. 

Smoke time: 1hr 22min in the beautiful Alaskan sunshine.
