Popular Post Luca Posted March 10 Popular Post Posted March 10 Ok so this isn't a robusto, but its kind of close, at 47 RG x 135mm (5⅜″) this is a bit longer and slightly smaller ring gauge compared to 50 RG x 124mm (4⅞″). Also my partner picked this one for me to smoke after dinner on the weekend. First third: Starting off with soft notes of almond nut and spice. As the first third progresses, the spice notes develop into a dry rub spice note. Very interesting. Second Third: The almond nut notes have died down now and so has the spice. There is a slight fruity note. Not stewed fruit which is usually a strong part of Ramon Allones DNA. The fruit notes more so remind me of a bread my family makes during the year - Pinza. Pinza is a Northern Italian cake from the Veneto region. Its hearty, sweet and often has raisins, orange, figs, dates and apples (to name a few) mixed in with it. Picture below for reference: On the retro hale there is a slight touch of white pepper. Final third: Now the "Pinza" bread notes have culminated into that iconic Ramon Allones stewed fruit notes. The super rich fruit flavour with a touch of spice was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a final third picture! Burn and construction was great with minimal attention required. Also - chose to pair this with a digestive - Braulio. I like it as a Shakerato (shaken with ice and double strained into a couple glass) as it really opens up the drink and lightens it. Overall a 8.5/10 smoke. I will let these rest for a little more. I hope that rich stewed fruit notes develop further throughout these as they age. Another cigar I have smoked which has rich stewed fruit and mulled wine notes is the La Gloria Cubana Medaille d'or No. 4. Has anyone else noticed this flavour profile in other marcas? Interested to know. Thanks for reading! 8
