I am recalling an analysis I did awhile ago that found that the price/gram was surprisingly constant within a Marca*. This means that it doesn't matter whether you chose a tiny stick or a giant stick -- you were paying the same $/gram. Given this observation, one could gain value by choosing cigars with a smaller ring gauge because the number of grams of tobacco discarded in the nub will be smaller with a smaller ring gauge. *Caveat: in some Marcas (e.g. Upmann, R&J) the $/gram was slightly better if the stick was below 9 grams. 1
