Popular Post eaglebear29 Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 Foundation Olmec Claro Double Robusto Nicaraguan Puro 52 x 7 I’ve been wanting to try this one for awhile now. Initial Light: Chocolate creme and light notes of coffee. Was a punch cut with a nice draw, that changed after 10 puffs. No more draw so I used the v-cut. Wow now chocolate syrup with creme and coffee on the back end. That fades quickly and now it’s more coffee with a 50/50 shot of cream and cocoa. End of First 3rd: The chocolate isn’t sweet anymore more of a Ghirardelli special dark, 80% cocoa. Not much creme. Tasting more earthy yet still pretty smooth. Touch under medium in strength. End of Second 3rd: Cocoa dominant with creme and coffee being not far behind. At some points they all mix together beautifully. No more draw so I had to trim it a little deeper with the V-cut. Faint notes of hazelnut. That has now gone. Medium in strength. End of Final 3rd: More faint notes of hazelnut creamer with coffee and dark cocoa being the main tones. The coffee is turning to shots of espresso with cocoa and hints of hazelnut cream. It dances back and forth from being dark to balance with the creme and the faint hazelnut hints. Medium+ in strength. Final Thoughts: These smoke quicker not being in my Alaskan rainforest. It was very smooth for being earthy and wasn’t too linear for me. A slight crescendo cigar. Pretty much the same flavors but they built while the strength slowing built as well. Id like to have more of that hazelnut creamer. I’ll have to get some more singles while also trying the smaller vitolas and let them sit for awhile. I was told by the guy at the local B&M that these were very much like the Padrons, I haven’t had many of those but thought this seemed more like the budget option yet still a little spendy. I enjoyed the stick but I’d rather reach for a N6 Canonazo for the price or a N5 Queen Corona. I’d be able to get both for the price of this stick and I’d be happy with one. Nub/Pipe-worthy: Yes on both, was good. No harsh edges/ammonia creeping in. Time: 1hr 35min Final score: 91/100 10
