eaglebear29 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Foundation Aksum Claro Robusto 5 x 50 Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra Claro Binder: Connecticut broadleaf Filler: Nicaraguan Initial light up Earth and raw cocoa earthiness is fading after a couple puffs leaving bitter chocolate. No sweetness. Strength is medium. End of First 3rd: Reminds of what an original hot chocolate must’ve tasted like, just bitter cocoa nibs pulverized then heated in a hot drink with no sugar. Hints of crème and sweetness are there on the tip of the tongue, maybe a dash as if it wasn’t stirred into the drink. Strength has built to medium to medium+. End of Second 3rd: Added a touch more of crème on a sip here and there but it’s still mainly a straight cocoa nibs drink. Hopefully something happens. Halfway through the second 3rd it turned to straight cocoa nibs and no dash here and there of crème and sugar. Very earthy again as it was on light up. Full strength. End of Final 3rd: I get earthy cocoa cowboy coffee with grounds all in my teeth. Not bad but I wouldn’t say great. For this price it’s like paying for some decently premium coffee and yet ya just watched them dump raw cocoa and ground coffee unfiltered straight into hot water and they called it artisan. When in fact it was just some old school cowboy coffee. Some hipster idea I hope tanks. Makes no sense when I can make this at my house for a dollar. Final thoughts: Might not be for those palates who like sweeter stuff. It sure is good if ya like earthy Nicaraguan sticks. What I would’ve gone for when I first started. Very smooth for how earthy it is, but you have to like that sorta thing. I wasn’t too excited for the price with how linear this stick was, but to be fair it was only picked up down here in Cali a few weeks ago. Maybe it could be better with some rest. I’ll give it that it definitely packs a punch for a smaller stick. Overall a very linear stick. Nub/Pipe worthy: Nub worthy sure, there’s hints of ammonia, pipe worthy no. Smoke time: 1hr and windy Score: 86/100 3
