Popular Post Çnote Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 @Capn_Jackson Easily the mildest LFD I've had. Cream, straw, mild baking spice, huge intensity to start for the first inch or so. Settles down into a rich custard with soft spices until the 3rd 3rd. Very reminiscent of Cohiba, but without the honey. 3rd 3rd kicks up in strength a touch and the profile morphs into a carrmel pecan pie. Pretty fantastic, actively trying to get a couple more. Malort builds character. 5
Capn_Jackson Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I totally forgot that @Çnote had posted his review on this, and had to scramble to catch up. Feeling disheveled and disorganized… sorry for that! Windy as hell outside, and chilly but manageable. Cold draw has lots of cocoa and coffee. Light up puff gives me pepper, hay, baking spices. Coffee finish. In the first third, lots of gingersnaps, some coffee and cocoa, trace notes of fudge on the finish, and a hint of caramel. Pepper fades in a few minutes. After a little while, this turns to a dark agave (similar to the Opus 20th anniversary), with some coffee, and a little cumin on the finish. Oily, juicy mouthfeel, and lots of smoke output. Strength seems just about medium. Heading toward the next act, it transitions through some citrus and a little biscuit, or the chocolate part of an Oreo. Second third opens to apricot brandy, with a little almond shortbread cookie. Around the midpoint, lots of coffee, as well as chocolate covered raisin and peanut. Some Bourbon barrel sweetness on the finish, Caramel and vanilla. The last act is dominated by sweet nutty flavors, some iced tea, more agave, and eventually some allspice. Citrus makes another appearance, and the very end has a dark caramel note, almost bitter but not quite. Pecan pie. Strength ends up just over medium a few notches. 2 and a half hour smoke for me, and worth every minute! Malört indeed! 4
