Oliva Becomes Official Cigar of the Cigar Smoking World Championship

Oliva has announced that it is now the official cigar of the Cigar Smoking World Championship, an international slow-smoking competition.

Founded in 2010 by Marko Bilic, president of the International Cigar Club Mareva, CSWC is a competition that is primarily aimed at finding who can smoke a cigar the slowest before the cigar either goes out or reaches the band. There are a myriad of other rules, like that the cigar must be held by each competitor—as opposed to rested in an ashtray—talking is prohibited for the early parts of each competition, and there are penalties for a host of other things, like if the ash falls. Qualifying events are hosted around the world; the winners are invited to compete at an event in Split, Croatia.

As part of this new agreement, Oliva has created the Oliva Marvea, a 5 1/8 x 42 corona that will serve as the cigar used for the 2025 competition. The company is declining to disclose details about the blend but says that it will be sold in 2025 at international retailers but not in the U.S. Pricing has not yet been announced.

Oliva takes over the role as official cigar from Rocky Patel, which made the cigar used for the 2020-2024 competitions. In addition, Rocky Patel sold that cigar, including at U.S. stores.
