El Presidente Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 The lizards pair the HVC Selección No. 1 in Esenciales with seven year aged Baker's Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The guys discuss a new custom cigar program from JC Newman, Chef Ricky guides us through some great holiday food plans and Senator introduces a new game called "The Bam Price is Right". Plus: Bam Hasn't Been In a Food Store in Years, Hot Tea Discussion, Favorite Pairings, Holiday Cigar Choices 3 1
TomsRibs210 Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Another Peabody Award winning episode. This episode is on the Mt Rushmore of Lizard episodes, up there with the Bam Accountability Hour and 100th episode, besting Micro Fiche and NYE episodes. Last half is the funniest content they’ve delivered. 🦎 1 1
rabidraccoon Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Enjoyed the episode! On the stem discussion...everybody removes the wrapper central vein right? I know in the DR they use the deveining machines that slice down the middle of the wrapper leaf and elsewhere they hold the base, wrap the leaf around the hand and rip out the vein. I have seen the discarded stems being soaked in water in Cuba for use as pesticide because of the nicotine concentration, but I don't think they re-use them for this in the NC industry (maybe the sell them for nicotine extraction for downstream products?). Either way, it sounded like the listener email referred to a stem in a filler tobacco. As far as I know, nobody removes these? I personally don't find a flavor issue with it but it's just annoying to me when trying to ash the cigar because there is this hard burnt stem holding it in place like rebar in some concrete. 1 1
MrBirdman Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Another fun episode. I like the holiday cigar rotation question. Good subject for a forum thread. One for me will definitely be a Genios. On another matter, have you done any port tastings? 2 1
LizardGizmo Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Thanks for the kind words! This is probably my favorite episode we’ve recorded to date, despite the cigar not being amazing.
