JohnS Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Latest Import Numbers Show Small Gain Over Last Year August imports up 1.1 percent, led by strong showing from the Dominican Republic Nov 18, 2024 - By David Savona Imports of premium, handmade cigars showed a small gain through August. According to the latest data released by the Cigar Association of America, there were 268.3 million premium, handmade cigars shipped for the first eight months of 2024, up 1.1 percent when compared to 271.2 million in the same period in 2023. The best showing comes from the Dominican Republic, which posted a 7.1 percent gain over 2023 numbers. Nicaragua, which is the market leader, had growth of 1.1 percent, while No. 3 producer Honduras is down 9.3 percent compared to shipments in 2023.
