Connecticut Wrapper Leaf Pedigree and Development

I've become more and more interested in research articles like the one available at the link below. Most of the technical aspects are way over my head. But it's interesting to read about the breeding that goes into tobacco development. I especially like the comparison photographs showing 3 different primings from each of the different plants/varieties. The complex and evolving nature of plant breeding really makes me wonder what, exactly, we are smoking these days and how it compares with the leaves of the past.
