Avo is sort of the quintessential old school NC to me. The blends tend to be on the savory side of the flavor wheel and, typically, around a woodier core from my experience with them and, generally, not too strong. I enjoyed the classic blend the most from them but haven't tried the XO.

The first third starts of light-medium with cedar and citrus, some light sweet spices in the background. There is also a light earthy flavor similar to mushrooms. The retro is smooth and aroma is nice. Construction is spot on, which is typical for Avo.

The second third is closer to medium body. The flavors are cedar and earth forward, with slight citrus, especially in the retro, sweet and savory spices.

The final third is solid medium. Still cedar and earth forward, more savory spices at this point and a slight fruity sweetness has crept in. The earth flavor has become a bit gripping on the palate.

Overall, I rate this a 64, 5 pack worthy. Avo in general makes good cigars but I don't recall ever smoking a great one. It's that girl that isn't attractive or exciting enough to date but she is good looking and fun enough where you aren't embarrassed to be seen out with her. The reliable pinch hitter.
