Popular Post Li Bai Posted August 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2024 I have mixed feelings about this P2, I've had a couple stellar ones and many, many bland ones but I wanted a piramide today so I went for the first one in this 22 box. What a beauty and what a smell 😍 but, oh boy, 16.2g, I might be in for a fight... Draw is very firm but it's not plugged, I bet it will open up. Unfortunately, I'm not a skilled gambler and although I was right, it did open up, it waited to do so until the last 3cm. Those cm saved the experience a bit tbh but I still can't see why this cigar is so popular, I'll have to light another one up soon but I'm close to giving up on it. 😩 6
Redgoldband Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Ah, man. I thought the P2 was a sure bet. I went big on the P2 a couple months ago. Let's compare notes at the end of September when the first of my P2 batch has reached the 90-day period.

Don't worry too much mate, this stick in particular had a bad draw but I think my problem with most of those I smoked isn't construction-linked...it's just a cigar that stands in a blind spot of mine, it's not an overrated cigar, so many experienced compadres love it. It's just not for me, like the Rio Seco. 🥲
Redgoldband Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 Gotcha. I can understand that. I'm making my way through the Partagas alphabet series. As it stands, PSD4 and PSE2 have been excellent. I've heard really good things about PSP2 but before I smoke my first one near the end of September, I have a PSD5 that will be ready on 9/5.
RDB Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 For any cigar, you can have a whole box that is no good, or a run of bad luck, when the fundamental blend can be brilliant. Or you can get lucky and have a run of good smokes - no reason to go out and buy those like crazy. My advice is to relax…try some from other boxes…if your box doesn’t feel good now, then leave it alone for a while. The P2 can be a great cigar. What is a bit unusual is that it faces strong competition from quite similar format cigars in the Partagas stable (especially the E2). 3

I'm well aware of that, I've smoked dozens of those over the years from several boxes. Some fresh, some over 4 years and I only recall two great smokes among those. It might just be bad luck as you say but the more I smoke them, the less likely it becomes. Today was the first one from the only P2 box I ever bought, all the other ones had been singles. I won't throw them away of course but I won't be seeking after them either, my Upmann and my Montes are sufficient for me. 😍 1
