President Díaz Canel today tours places of socioeconomic interest in the municipality of Jiguaní.

The president of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez (@DiazCanelB) visits the UEB Bernarda del Toro Pelegrín twisted tobacco factory, in the Jiguaní municipality, as part of the president's usual tours of places of socioeconomic interest in various neighborhoods and communities in the country.

This industry is dedicated to the production of tobacco for export, the latter through the Habanos SA Company. Among the main brands it sells are Bolívar, Hoyo de Monterrey, José L. Piedra, Montecristo, Partagás and Romeo, Julieta and H .Upmann.

The unit is distinguished by its quality to the point that it only has a 0.3% rejection of a 4.0 allowable by the Habanos SA customer.

The Twisted Tobacco Base Business Unit has 141 workers (86 women) and in the first quarter of 2024 they have 110% overcompliance with the plan. To achieve this, it was necessary to acquire solar panels, since in 2023 they were hit by the lack of electrical energy.

Díaz-Canel was interested there in production plans, workers' salaries and working conditions, and he also inquired about locally produced tobacco brands.

I believe UEB stands for some version of “Base Business Unit” and isn’t related to the code printed on the boxes they’re manufacturing.
