Felipe BHK52 2022?

First time note writer, poster

Before I really dug in to 'do my own research', I was using a bourbon group friend as a lifeguard into the new-to-me waters of cigars. I asked him for some things he was buying, he mentioned Felipe BHK52 from another site (which I now know has a....colorful past, to say the least). They were on sale, so I bought some. Today, I smoked one.

It looked the part to me and admittedly, a $20+ smoke that claims to be of/near Cohiba pedigree/lineage, my expectations were somewhat elevated. I expected a little more aromatics from my pre-light experience, but with a relatively small sample size upon which to draw, I paid it little mind. Cut, light, first draw.

Draw was fine, burn was even (to start) - we are off and running. But something is missing. Halfway through the first third, it starts to fill out a bit but there are no discernible flavors nor excitement. There are some moments of almost candied sweetness, but as soon as they arrive, they promptly disappear again. Much like this post, it keeps going but no really getting anywhere. A treadmill if you will. 

Midway through, the mouthfeel thinned out and upon closer inspection, it was tunneling a little so I cleaned it up and kept going - to its credit it stayed on course through the last puffs I was willing to give it. 

Got to the final third and I'm bored. So I pack up and move on. A disappointing cigar, but a nice quiet hour outside between the rain with some good music.

I have a few more of these. I'll move them way back and see if something comes of these with time. I choose to look at this experience and these smokes as teachable moments. I'm glad I have them as I do want to see if anything comes of them. Happier still I have found this place & community so I can make smarter better choices in the future.

....as a rule of thumb, if someone has to reference BHK/Behike in the name.....then they are full of shit.

Don't get me wrong 😁

I was referencing the host of this that and other BHK 52/54/56 sold by people far and wide

It is an infestation 😅
