Which Cubans are best "off the shelf"?

Say you find a reputable B&M shop on vacation somewhere. You want to buy a cigar and head down to the beach and have a nice smoke. Which Cubans smoke best without age?

I would say any CC under 10 dollars since the wind will probably ruin your smoke. 😉

Now seriously, trust yourself, it depends on so many factors (a major one is the conservation conditions in the shop you bought it), it is nearly impossible to answer imho...

That being said, fresh CCs have all been smoking pretty well recently...

Budget and interest these days. For the past several years most sticks are smoking well ROTT. Key question is where are you?  If in Mexico, chances are you are buying a fake. Same for DR, although I have had some lovely fakes there before I knew any better. 
Common wisdom these days is to bring your own if you can - you can always remove the label when coming home in a few sticks. If you say you got them on the beach, the customs officer will pass you through thinking they are fakes from the beach.
