H Upmann Royal Robusto July 2022 (FEBW1)

Admittedly, I don’t have a ton of experience with LCDH editions, but of the few I’ve had, Royal Robustos will probably always be my favorite. Especially since they seem like the easiest to come across these days.

 

The opening with these guys for me is always the same, some big earth and cedar right out of the gate. Gradually throughout the first third, the earth falls away and gets replaced by coffee and some almond, especially on the retro. Where I think this stick really shines is with a latte as a pairing. Black coffee will do I. A pinch, but I’ve noticed that a latte really super charges the nutty/creamy note that is pervasive in these sticks.

 

Towards the end of the stick flavors got a little muddled, but some of the earthiness comes back into the fold, along with some toasted wheat bread. Absolutely love these when they’re on, and recently they’ve been on.
