Check the List.  Pick your worst 5  ;)

....of course based on what you have tasted

Now one mans trash is another mans treasure and I think there are only a few cigars since 4the initial EL  release (2000) that are true dogs.

Take a look. Let us kow what has made you go "hmmmm"

Trinidad Short Robustos T

My most hated LE release. The first shot across the HSA bow that they can't just produce mediocrity under this program and expect it to sell.

Hoyo de Monterrey Particulares

Way too many construction issues for me. Great flavour when you nail a good one.

Montecristo Montecristo D

Most Monte are very good. Monte LE need to be superb. This wasn't anything but generically good.

Romeo y Julieta Tacos

You have to be a lover of not only R&J but R&J under the EL era.

Punch Regios de Punch

Coming on 6-7 years and they aren't anywhere where I expected them to be.

The Dantes ‘16 that John notes was by some way the worst I’ve ever tried (and unfortunately bought a box of!). I smoked one and one only - recall the flavours being poor, the wrapper having a mind of its own and the nicotine knocking me for six. Stuck the box right down the deepest darkest corner of storage and haven’t thought about them since.

All that said, I read here recently that they had turned a corner. So I’ll have to revisit - but I don’t hold much hope. Nor am I excited by the thought.

It's interesting, isn't it? If you compare the marcas of the Limited Edition releases since the Hoyo de Monterrey Short Hoyo Piramides came out in 2011, you'd see that Partagas, H.Upmann, Montecristo, Cohiba and Bolivar have had more vitolas made in that time. Apart from the 2013 Grand Epicure, the 2021 Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 has only just been released in the second half of 2023, and I haven't heard that much about it.

Perhaps the Hoyo de Monterrey blends don't suit the wrappers that go on Limited Edition cigars? I still remember the 2011 HdM Short Hoyo Piramides as being fairly nondescript in comparison to other Hoyo de Monterrey cigars I've smoked since.

I think you are right in that they struggle with an LE forumulae wrapper.

The HDM 2003 Piramide was an excellent cigar upon release but died in the arse within 5 years. It had zero legs.
