Bolivar Regentes 2021 Limited Edition - World Launch in London

The Bolivar Regentes is a 2021 Limited Edition. It is a 52 ring gauge x 130 mm (or 5⅛ inches) in length Discretos cigar. It is not to be confused with the former regular production Bolivar Regentes cigar, a 34 rg x 125 mm (or 4⅞ inches) in length Placeras, discontinued in 2002.

Despite being a 2021 release, Hunters & Frankau have announced that they will host the launch party of this release in early February. The details, from the press release, are as follows:

BOLIVAR REGENTES WORLD LAUNCH – TICKETS NOW ON SALE

Hunters & Frankau is delighted to announce that tickets are now on sale for the official World Launch of the Bolivar Regentes, a 2021 Habanos Edición Limitada.

The event will take place at Boisdale Canary Wharf on February 7th, 2024. To purchase tickets (£275 p/p) via the Boisdale website please click here.

Pre-prandial cocktails and cigars will be served at the Hine Bar & Garden terrace. This will be followed by a three-course dinner in the main dining hall, accompanied by a live Cuban band.

After dinner the Bolivar Regentes will be presented to guests who will then be invited to proceed to the terrace and light up, becoming some of the first people in the world to taste this much anticipated cigar that has arrived direct from Cuba.

Cocktails and Hine Cigar Reserve XO cognac will be on hand to pair with this new cigar. Each guest will receive four Havana cigars, including three of the new Bolivar Regentes.

45£ sqiuderoonies (57US$). Some are shipping on the 9th Feb, 2 days after the global launch. Local launches 1st March in Surrey, 15th March elsewhere. Most retailers quiet... Sounds like it's all been organised by Habanos management lol

Pricing is less painful than expected here. Box less fancy. Will try a couple.

Bolívar Regentes Edición Limitada 2021 Debuts in London

Last week, the Bolívar Regentes Edición Limitada 2021 debuted at a party at the Boisdale Canary Wharf in London. Now, the cigar is available at stores in the United Kingdom.

The Regentes is a 5 1/8 x 52 vitola that is known as Discretos within the Cuban naming system. The only other Cuban cigar to be made in this vitola is the Partagás Maduro No.1.

In the U.K., the pricing is set at £45 ($56.84) per cigar and it is sold in boxes of 25 cigars.

This is the final of the three 2021 Edición Limitada cigars to go on sale. The Cohiba 55 Anniversario (5 9/10 x 57) launched in 2022, while the Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 (5 7/10 x 55) went on sale last year.

For most of the last two decades, Habanos S.A. has announced three new Edición Limitada releases each year. These cigars are each a new size for a particular brand, not necessarily a new Cuban cigar size, but one that hasn’t been sold as part of that particular brand before. As the name would imply, the cigars are offered in limited quantities, though rarely ever disclosed production numbers.

In addition to being a unique size, Edición Limitada cigars use tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Rió, which is then aged for a minimum of two years. They carry a secondary band that reads “Edición Limitada” and then the year they were announced.

Hunters & Frankau, the U.K.’s distributor of Cuban cigar, was selected as the launch partner for this cigar. It’s unclear when other markets will get the cigar.

At last Wednesday’s launch party, guests were served a three-course dinner while Sambroso All Stars, a Cuban band, performed. The new cigar was formally introduced by Willie Cochrane, former pipe major of The King’s Own Scottish Borderers.

There were no Edición Limitada cigars as part of the 2022 class. Habanos S.A. informed some distributors that it was planning 2022 Edicíon Limitadas for H. Upmann, Ramón Allones and Trinidad. Those cigars were reclassified and are now part of the 2023 class of Edición Limitada cigars:

H. Upmann Magnum Finite — 5 1/8 (130mm) x 53 (Singulares)

Ramón Allones Absolutos — 6 3/8 (162mm) x 47 (Cazadores Especiales)

Trinidad Cablidos —  6 1/8 (156mm) x 49 (Nuevos)

There is no word on when these cigars might go on sale.
