Popular Post Tradesman Posted January 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2024 First time having this. Kept at 62% RH for 3 weeks since arrival. Wanted to try this out ROTT to have a baseline on how this improves with age. Pre-light: This is one of the more beautiful cigars I've seen. The wrapper is dark and oily which is a good sign. Spent 10 minutes just appreciating the cigar and it's cold aroma. Cold draw was just classic Cuban tobacco, not too much to write home about. First third: Flavours start off very mild on the first few draws. But it builds after about 10 draws. Initial impression on the palate: Definitely nutty, slight sweetness and some wood. The finish of this cigar is very worthy of comment, long finish of toasted almonds and peanuts with a sprinkling of sugar, no fresh cigar harshness. Retrohale has no bite for the first 20 puffs or so. So far, wood-forward with some savoury nuts mixed in. Slight spice develops after the first 20 puffs. Construction is flawless. Ash held on for the entire first third. Only had to knock it off cause I let it go out. Second third: Retrohale spice intensifies, but makes it much more complex. Now it is wood and spice, not much nuts. On the palate: Almonds, peanuts and some spice on the back of the throat. Finish is still long like before. Last third: Palate hasn't changed much. But its an enjoyable profile. Surprisingly not much fresh cigar harshness. Retrohale spice has toned back down, just woody now. Room note throughout the cigar has been a very pleasant sweet wood. Overall a 90 now, likely higher in the future. 11
