My best cigar of 2023.  

I was coming off a whirlwind. I had been traveling for work for the majority of the year. I had just come off some much needed R&R on the east and west coast of the US with my friends, wife and kids. While sitting at SFO waiting to head back east, I get the call that my grandmother was about to pass away. To the midwest I go. Gratefully, I was able to be with her during her final days. But, I was spent when she passed

I needed a great cigar. I knew this box had potential when I reviewed a smoke from it in 2022 and I immediately reached for this stick.  

It was nearly perfect. Perfect draw. Near perfect ash. Medium bodied with a just exactly perfect nicotine kick. Rich notes of butterscotch, coffee, chocolate, caramel, toffee, dried fruit, baking spice and bread danced for 2hr+. When all the notes mixed just right, it tasted like pie.   97 points and I'm not entirely certain I shouldn't have scored it higher. But, I am certain my grandma put in a good word with the Cuban Cigar Gods and was smiling down up on me.

With ya - set & setting are huge. Hard to get into a great cigar when your head is not in the game and you're smoking in a suboptimal environment.
