MagicalBikeRide Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 The dog needs a walk - so any excuse for a smoke. This is the same size as the VI that Rob and Hamlet produce and I think it’s from the same factory, but a different blend. Pretty fresh according to the lads in the shop, but don’t know more beyond that. Anyway, took the doggo to the park, nice long walk, some work calls on the headphones, but mostly relaxing. Good times. Notes I scribbled are below. Gorgeous wrapper Amazing aroma (find this with nudie’s too!) Lighter than the robusto - at least started sweeter Smooth transitions Tons of smoke and sharp burn 1/3 Honey, burnt sugar, hot chocolate with marshmallows, some sweet pastry note Ample smoke, sharp burn, mild 2/3 Chocolate pastry, Milky Way chocolate bars, coffee, same burnt sugar thing, some earthiness that I can’t call out more clearly Clean burn, moving toward medium 3/3 Sweetness less prominent, like a citrus / bitter essence thing, more coffee, leather, a more intense earthiness, touch of Guinness - but the creamy kind rather than bottled carbonated kind. Just above medium Awesome smoke 👌 4

I have been hoovering their robusto recently. This, my second of the VI size, feels like it opens sweeter or slower and builds with smoother / slower transitions. The robusto gets to the deeper flavours / medium body quicker I think.

Zero insight into the actual difference in blend, but I have tied both - albeit not sure how much the JJF had been rested. My broad observations are two - (1) the JJF feels sweeter, both on the open and throughout and (2) the Nudie’s I’ve smoked have built up much closer to full by the final third. Small sample size to be honest, but might be of interest regardless.
