El Presidente Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I and other non US members would love to know how our esteemed FOH cultured souls set up for Superbowl. How do you plan your day? Food? Cigars...which weapons are you selecting? Any Special Drinks? Waitresses, Reviver centres (ice baths for the intoxicated)? Let us share the knowledge
1f1fan Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 » How do you plan your day? I am going over to a friends house who is a BIG steelers fan. He plans on starting the day around 12 with a game of toutch football. Then after he gets the keg (I hope its not Miller or Coors Lite :-| ) We will start to eat and maybe play some NFL Blitz on his PS2. Eat some more and then watch the game » Food? Chili, hot wings, chips/dip - followed by a 1/2 bottle of Pepto..save the other half before bed » Cigars...which weapons are you selecting? Maybe a PLPC or something from the Boli line » Any Special Drinks? Beer - might have to bring some Sam Adams or Brooklyn brown ale over if the supplied keg is garbage »Waitresses, Reviver centres (ice baths for the intoxicated)? I try to catch the wife when she is up getting something ;-)

Colt45 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 The past few years I've gone to a friend's house with a HUGE flat screen hd tv. For food, everyone brings something, and it usually runs the gamut. Drink, for me, will be beer - more than likely either Pacifico or Sam Adams. Unfortunately, I won't be smoking - can't smoke inside, and it's too cold to be outside too long. Either that, or I'm going to CIGARHead's :-D
novasurf Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Awesome party set up: First, I come from a small Hispanic family of 4,000. I love 'em all. This year, it's at my cousins. Everybody brings something. Roast pork, rice and beans, paellas, calamari, clamms, mussels, empanadas, cerviche, etc. This year I'm bringing chilaquiles de frijoles ***** (a black bean appetizer), awesome Brooklyn Italian Bread, several homemade key lime pies and several bottles of wine. My cigar of choice: Trinidad Robusto Extra Nite cap: Siglo II It is always a great time. Too bad I have to be on the 6:08AM train for work the next morning. This is the second year in a row where someone has scheduled something early the day after the superbowl. Note to self. Get it right for next year.
korryp Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 How do you plan your day? Get a lot of sleep the night before. » Food This year it is a seafood extravaganza. Cigars...which weapons are you selecting? Cohiba's. All day long. » Any Special Drinks? Keg of Mac N' Jack » Waitresses, Reviver centres (ice baths for the intoxicated)? Just wives to haul beer and food.
Tampa1257 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Typically this is quite a festive occasion. Mega pots of coffee starting the day and to get the heart pumping and ready for the rest of the day. Followed by copious amounts of all different types of chips & dips, sweet pickles, finger sandwiches, homemade chilli, assorted cheese, all different types of bread and pastries. All this is just for warm ups. Beer, whiskey, bourbon, scotch and other adult beverages abound. Close to game time, before the steaks cut thick and juicy are dropped on the grill, out come all sorts of fresh shrimp with cocktail sauce and assorted cold salads. Along with the steaks, grilled veg's and corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw are consumed. During the game, all the chips & dips and other finger foods are available along with many, many adult beverages. Cigars are typically those one chooses for special occasions. A cigar per quarter is about right for me. alas, this has been in the past, this year will look more like decaf coffee in the morning, work during the day, drive home and have about a half hour to prepare a tray of carrots and cherry tomatoes. More decaf during the game, and I am allowing myself to splurge and smoke a couple of cigars during the game. I have chosen a Partagas Solomon from the Partagas 150th Anniv Humidor and will follow that with a Cohiba SIglo VI that has been deep in the humidor for the past 2 years, so it should be nice and ready!
Phailure Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 » How do you plan your day? Wing it :-P » Food? I have a massive slab of pork thawing in the fridge. Feels like it weighs around 20lbs. Probably cook it the oven (grill is too small :-( ) » Cigars...which weapons are you selecting? Dunno yet... Maybe I'll celebrate my PSP2's first birthday. » Any Special Drinks? Nothing special. Probably wine. » Waitresses, Reviver centres (ice baths for the intoxicated)? I wish...
dragon Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I will be having my usual bowl of gruel, a glass of lukewarm milk and will be going to bed at 5PM.

Freefallguy Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Our tradition(with my two sons) has been to make sushi at home… yes, odd tradition I know, but we’re all fans of sushi… so it’s salmon, tuna, shrimp, faux crab stick, caviar ,sea scallops and avocado… with the obligatory sticky rice of course. Paired with warm green tea is just fine for me. Go Hawks!!!
billyburg Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Roasting a duck today to use in duck nachos and chipolte salsa to start off with. Then grilled portabellas with goat cheese. While the grills hot grill N.Y. strips. Our local store had fresh Chanterell mushrooms so I'll saute them up for the steaks. Probally start w/ a BBF then a custom rolled gifted to me last year. Beer and Bourbon then Wiiams-Selyem pinot with the steak.
