Popular Post ChangBang Posted September 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 12, 2023 Smoked these 2 head to head seeing what kinda differences there were. Probably should've made 2 separate reviews since they're pretty different but oh well I'm lazy haha. Off the bat, both looks great and have pretty good draws. On my 21 Rosado and maduro, the draw usually has been really tight but today's example had a great draw. Of the 2 2023 N1s, the draw has been good so glad they worked that out. 1 - Give em a light and straight away the 21 has a stronger dark tobacco flavor. The 23 is much softer in comparison and retro is easier. They both give off a bready note with the 21 being more a dark rye bread vs a white bread from the 23. A little bit of pepper comes into the 21 while the 23 develops a woody pencil shaving taste. Things shift into a dark coffee vs light coffee. The 23 for a couple puffs had notes of floral and the plmc caramel note that was described by the prez. The 21 retains its strength going into a toasty wood and more rye bread 2 - You can even see the difference in ash between the two! The 2nd for the 21 keeps the slight pepper notes and adds on a woody note with a few puffs of cinnamon here and there. The 23 stays smooth having a slightly sweet slightly chocolatey dough. Fades into a more generic white bread note through the 2nd 3 - Right now they're both pretty good but for different reasons! The 21 bolder and stronger, with the 23 being softer. Like a HU46 vs epi2 to me. The final 3rd changed that. The 21 keeps on building and building in strength where now it's a full cigar with a bite. Big flavors are of a smokey wet oak and eventually bbq wood and then a musty campfire. I'm sure that appeals to some, but not me. The 23 may get a tad stronger, but we're taking mild - under medium at the end. Mostly get a sweet woodiness with the occasional sweet bread joining in. Overall - these were essentially 2 different cigars sharing the shape. I preferred the 2023, but I can defintely see people liking the bolder 2021 better. 2021 N1 Rosado - 4/10 - Was doing good up till the end, still a little harsh so I wasn't able to retro this normally. Maybe some more downtime it'll smooth some of the edges 2023 N1 - 6/10 - Pretty good! Flavors weren't too strong or complex but a nice light smoke! With more age, hopefully that blip of floral and caramel stays around longer. 3 2
