Sir Diggamus Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 This Lancero is my first from the latest batch. Aroma at cold is dusty cocoa. After a clip the dry draw reveals only tobacco notes. As soon as I fire up this cigar I get a little bit of cocoa, cocoa and cream in the retrohale, very nice. The burn is razor sharp and the draw provides a little resistance, but still produces a lot of smoke. Perfect. A little ginger note creeps into the retrohale, spice and tang at the same time. The 2/3 brings in a little coffee to the mix of flavor and the cocoa note fades a bit. The flavors on this cigar are FULL and in your face but body remains medium. The cocoa note comes back in a bit and makes the flavor like a cafe mocha. The last third starts off as a continuation of the 2/3 with a mocha note. Eventually, with a few inches left the cream note becomes more prominant and the cocoa fades, leaving a coffee and cream mix to the nub I love the change in blend from last years Lancero Nudie. Definitely more cocoa in this year's blend, and I like it. Having smoked the 109, this cigar seems to have some of the same DNA but not directly related. The 109 seems like the more sophisticated older cousin to this cigar, more refined, mellower from age. The Lancero is the wilder of the two, right there in your face showing it all to you. Both are really good, I definitely prefer the 109. I can't wait for that release. This was a great cigar 90 Points 3 1
