Popular Post Midas Posted September 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 11, 2023 Picking up where I left off yesterday this evening with the ebony half of the 2021 Lancero bundle. Snipped just below the pig tail and again the construction is perfect, very slight resistance on the draw. I think I made a mistake with my pairing today going for a lager, doesn’t complement the sweetness of the cigar at all. Unlike yesterdays Rosado the ash on this Maduro holds on for a couple of inches at a time with a razor sharp burn. The first two thirds are a consistent mix of dark chocolate and sweetness. Medium body, incredibly smooth through the retro. Similar to the Rosado in its one dimensional flavour profile but again this isn’t a bad thing at all. The final third the body picks up to just over medium, a slight harshness comes in briefly but I think that was user error, smoking too fast. The sweetness fades and I’m left with mainly espresso. The final third isn’t as good as the first two bringing this down to a 7/10 for me. Taking almost 2 hours to smoke I probably won’t touch these until next spring, I’m looking forward to seeing how these evolve. I’m yet to buy a bundle of the 2023 Lanceros, I’ve been holding off thinking I’d rather try some of the other vitolas but after the last 2 evenings I can see myself giving in and trying the latest offering. The thing I love about Lanceros is they require constant attention, you can’t smoke too slowly and risk needing a relight, can’t smoke too fast and over heat them so I find myself paying much more attention to the cigar rather than whatever else I might be doing.
