Popular Post Midas Posted September 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 10, 2023 We’ve had a heatwave this week and while I’m sure the members from warmer climates than the UK will laugh at 31c as being hot I can assure you anything above 25c in London is a form of torture. We’re not prepared for the heat, or the cold, or the rain…. Anyway I digress. This evening was as perfect to enjoy a cigar and a few drinks. This is a great opportunity to see how the ‘21 Nudies are coming along, this one is from the Ebony and Ivory bundle. I smoked one of each a month or so ago, both were smoking well but the Maduro was definitely the better of the two. Tonight I reached for the Rosado, a decision I’m very happy with. Stored at 69%, paired with a Johnnie Walker Gold Label. The construction was perfect as it has been with every other one of these. A slight clip of the cap to remove just more than the pig tail, the draw is ideal with the slightest resistance. A slight breeze causes the burn to be jagged at times but it always manages to correct itself. It opens with sweet nuts and cream, light bodied, a very easy smoke, the retrohale is as smooth as can be, bringing out some sweetness. I can’t remember which discontinued cigar the flavour profile of these is based on but it reminds me of a very good HU No.2. I didn’t notice any transitions but this isn’t a problem as the flavour profile is perfect for my taste and I’m glad it didn’t change. As I got in to the final third the body picked up to medium, the sweetness faded, replaced more with a light milky coffee. Still no harshness on the retro. 1 hour and 40 minutes down to the hot nub which is where it ends as it begins to burn my lips and I start to feel the nicotine coming on. Overall a wonderful smoke, my only complaint would be the ash falling every centimetre or so. A creature of habit I managed to catch it in my lap on more than one occasion. 9/10, I will be making the time tomorrow to revisit the Maduro whilst this one is still fresh in my mind.
