Low Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Inspired by the FOHrensics YouTube video, I decided to try out orange juice with a cigar that I think will pair well with it, a Crowned Heads Mil Dias Magico. I get a lot Juan Lopez out of the entire Mil Dias line, so OJ should be just about perfect. Now, I've done the OJ thing before, right after watching that video for the first time and with the same cigar that they used, a Monte 4. Results were similar to what they experienced. This is a petite robusto, so I think doing this in halves is the right idea. Straight cut, torched, paired with orange juice and water as a palate cleanser First Half - Orange and chocolate, with a bit of half roasted nuts. With those flavors and since it carries zero pepper, the regular Mil Dias in corona gorda and robusto are an excellent replacement for a JL1/2, as long as you don't miss the twang. After a sip of OJ right before puffing, the flavors all smooth out. Chocolate fades into the background, with the orange front and center, and a nice addition of cream. It tastes very much like a 50/50 bar Second Half - With water, it's more of the same orange, chocolate, nuts, and an addition of leather as the body builds to just over medium. The OJ shows similar results as before, but the newfound creamed leather taste is something rather addicting. I have decided to abandon the water completely and take small sips of the OJ every two to three puffs. Body finishes a hair over medium. Final smoke time was about one hour Water Score 5.6 / 10 - I prefer the larger formats for this line, with robusto at #1 and corona gorda at #2 Orange Juice Score 7.8 / 10 - The difference between the two was staggering. I eagerly await trying this out on my preferred formats. Only drawback was that the acidity of the OJ left my mouth dry as all hell. I noticed that my puffing increased as well as my sipping, so I had to ration the last bit of juice more than I'd liked 4
