Popular Post saltbox Posted May 12, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2023 Got these a while back in a trade with a fellow member. 7.5 years of age at this point, so I imagine there's not too much room for more evolution. The last time I smoked one from this trade was just about a year ago, so time to check in and see if there's been any change at all. First third: Opens immediately into a delightfully smooth silky almond, creamy coffee, shortbread. Just the right amount of sweetness on the finish to round out the profile. This continues on throughout the first third, making for an excellent profile and a good late morning smoke. Middle third: Almond cream, almost buttery texture. As this third progresses, around the halfway point, the creamy texture fades a bit and the almond cream becomes more of a dry, almond cake. At the same time, the sweetness takes a step back, with just a hint to sweeten the cakiness. Last third: Dry almond cake. The sweetness has completely faded out at this point, leaving the profile a bit tannic for my taste. What started as an amazing, refined profile has devolved in this last third to a more mundane one. Not bad, but not as fun as it was. Overall: Amazing start, but around the halfway point the profile lost the creaminess and sweetness that made the first third so delightful. Comparing it to my notes from the last time I had one of these a year ago, this one was significantly creamier and sweeter and less spice. With a sample size of 2, it's hard to draw any hard conclusions, but I've got a few remaining still and I'll try stretching them out over time. 88/100 15
