Holguin, Cuba, May 8 (Prensa Latina) Official sources confirmed on Monday that the fire broke out on Sunday in the surroundings of the Diesel Electric Power Plant in the municipality of Moa, in eastern Cuba, has been extinguished.

According to statements to the press by Lazaro Guerra, technical director of Union Electrica de Cuba, the fire was put out at one o’clock in the morning on Monday and did not damage the facility.

Guerra added that although it did affect a transmission line, the power plant is currently working.

Around midnight, local media reported that a large part of the outer perimeter of the facility was at risk from the fire, the cause of which has not yet been determined.

That Power Plant, inaugurated in 2015, has 10 engines with a generating capacity of 184 megawatts.
