Russian payment system to start operation in Cuba soon

 Cuban authorities are finalising arrangements to extend the Russian Mir payment card system to their country. Russian ambassador Andrei Guskov said: “On the Cuban end, the work to put the Mir payment system into operation is almost concluded.” Guskov said Mir would help Cuba circumvent the effects of the decades-long US embargo by creating “links that evade the financial organisations of unfriendly states”. It would also attract more Russian tourists to Cuba.
