Popular Post gormag38 Posted January 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 9, 2023 While this cigar wasn't a contender for #1 cigar of 2022, it was most certainly in my top 15. This cigar just seems to deliver time and time again. It very well may be my favorite Trinidad. I will ration the remaining box that I have and hope to watch them improve with age. 1/3 A straight cut is applied, and the cold draw seems great. Not too much resistance but not a wind tunnel like a previous smoke I had. From the first draw I start to pick up a bready, brioche flavor that I've begun to associate with this cigar. Some nuttiness comes as the cigar gets going as well as some cuban twang. This last note surprises me a bit as this hasn't been something I've found as noticeable in this box. 2/3 The burn starts to get a little off and I try to correct it for much of this third. This didn't affect the flavor a whole lot, thankfully. The bready notes start to take a backseat and now there's a woody spine with some slight nuttiness and twang. The profile becomes more medium full. Thankfully the burn starts to correct itself towards the end of this third. 3/3 The wooden/oak spine is still there. Leather has entered the conversation now and the cigar becomes quite hot/spicy. I slow down on it to try and get the most out of it. This only works momentarily. I didn't want to ruin what preceded this spiciness, so I toss it with about an inch remaining. This was probably my worst cigar from this cab (really just the last third). And it was still a damn good cigar. As is typical in my case, I'm sure the weather and it being cold outside played some part in this cigar getting spicier earlier. Outside of that this cigar is deserving of a Top 25 ranking. 91/100 8 1
