Pinar Del Rio Gautier XO, ‘perfect match for cigars’ enters Dubai Duty Free

Pinar Del Rio Gautier XO, from French family-run drinks group, La Martiniquaise, has gained a listing with Dubai Duty Free, with products arriving on shelf from December this year.

“This product is unique and brings something new within the Cognac category and unmatched,” said the brand.

Named after the Cuban valley where tobacco leaves are harvested, the Pinar Del Rio Gautier XO Cognac is an exclusive blend, crafted from old and rare eaux-de-vie from Maison Gautier’s Paradise Cellar.

Co-created with Cuban cigar Master Blender Don Alejandro Robaina, the liquid is said to be a perfect match for cigar aficionados.

“This outstanding Cognac marries perfectly with cigars, thanks to its powerfulness, that preserves the aromas in the mouth while respecting each cigar’s character,” added the brand.

Jean Cayard was responsible for creating La Martiniquaise, dedicated to the import and distribution of Rum, in 1934. The Group’s mature markets lie in Europe, but it operates in more than 110 countries around the world.

The French drinks group, which claims to sit inside the list of the world’s top 10, boasts thirty subsidiaries and production sites around the world.

interesting concept. if a product was designed to do with champagne and they used the name, the lawyers would be in full attack mode immediately.

Haha, true. 😂

Either there is indeed a blender bearing the same name by sheer coincidence... (and DA had been a vegero, not a “master blender”), or it’s cheap marketing. I guess the latter. The legal aspect is interesting indeed, as apart from use of the name, ‘Pinar del Rio’ is protected by DOP. Which doesn’t exclude the possibility that they got licensing for it.
