Popular Post hrs1
It’s a lovely long weekend. Warm, sunny, blue-sky days. Cool, clear, moonlit nights. College football kicked off. Friends have come out from the city for the last beach weekends of the summer. Family is happy. Life is good. But, all the great PSD4 reviews this weekend are giving me FOMO Our infant is down for his morning nap. My wife and toddler head out to pick up some breakfast. Perfect time to grab a coffee, light one up and settle in for a Sunday morning smoke to make everything just exactly perfect. Reach for a tubo and the aroma is sweet cedar and bread. A punch reveals a perfect draw that tastes as great it as smells. Light it up and it’s sweet, creamy cedar. It’s eerily like a great Epi 2 I had earlier this week, but the bready finish sets it apart. I’m also getting a bit of caramel. Great start, but I’m not sure I would tag this as a PSD4 blind. Start the second third and boom! Partagus spice and sourdough start taking over. Some coffee on the finish. Ash drops right on cue. Burn wobbles and corrects itself in repeating cycles. Smoke output is great. Body is medium-plus. Flavor is rich. While the sweetness is fading out, it’s still prominent on the retro. This is what bliss feels like. Sensing that I must be too relaxed for my own good, my toddler barrels into the backyard bearing coffee and a soccer ball. We kick it around while sipping our drinks and snacking on some pastries. Losing track off my cigar, I realize we’re entering the final third. The sweetness has disappeared and the profile is wood, earth and toasty bread. Some saltiness comes in and out. Tasty all the way down. Overall, a great 1.25hr 93/94 point smoke. A perfect Sunday morning. 14
