Popular Post gormag38 Posted August 22, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 22, 2022 Decided to crack into a new box of montecarlos. Paired with a Bergstrom Pinot Noir out of Oregon. First time trying this wine…solid red overall, but definitely not worth the $70 price tag. 1/3 From the get go I can tell this stick may be tough to get a draw on. Most of it feels very tight and overfilled in spots. My expectations aren’t high as I’m guessing these will need a lot more time down. (Part of the reason I chose a stick that felt overfilled) First couple puffs there’s definitely some slight ammonia taste still present. This fades after a few puffs thankfully. Draw is tight, and the perfect draw only helps a bit. Not much going on other than some bitterness and some twang. 2/3 Starting to get a couple puffs of some woody cedar type notes. For about 5-10 minutes this cigar was actually quite enjoyable. Unfortunately this fades and things start to turn spicy. About 30 minutes in and I need a relight. 3/3 The relight did this stick no favors. It’s all spice and bitterness. Tossed the stick just after the last third began. Overall I got about what I expected from these. A couple puffs here and there showed that there’s some complexity to this box. I think it needs a good 3-5 more years to really start shining. 85/100 9 1
