Popular Post djrey Posted August 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted August 2, 2022 Pulled this one out of the bottom of the NC humidor. After 8 years I figure it was time to give it a go. Build is excellent. Smooth as butter wrapper and jam packed with tobacco yet an easy draw. Opened light to medium body. Toasted tobacco notes, grass and a touch of almond. In many ways it reminded me a of a PLMC. Good performance but hoping it picks up as it is a bit dull and forgettable in the first third. Slight pick up in the second. Tobacco notes begin to transition into a woody note. Hints of cedar mostly. Grass and the nuttiness still present. Body has increased just a touch coming in just below medium. Final third is where things finally get more interesting. Body hits medium and strength also ramps up to medium plus. A bit of pepper and creamy spice join the profile. Overall good. Probably should have had this one years ago, which I have been finding to be the case as I smoke through my aged Opus collection. 90 PTS. 9
Islandboy Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I’m with you on this. I’ve got about half a box of these left, purchased in 2016. They already started flattening out about a year ago. Being the mellower blend of the Opus family, I guess these are really meant to be smoked rather than aged. 1

I only had two total and smoked my first at about 4 years old. It was mild then too. I'd say throw that half box on your list to work through sooner than later.
gustavehenne Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 From what I understand, most of the Opus blends include aged tobacco and therefore smoke well as soon as they are released. I've found this especially the case with Angels Share. Ive been trialing some of the Opus Oscuro over the last few years and it is getting better with age. Angels Share and regular Opus seem to hit a 'plenitude' then fade

When I started buying singles here and there in 2013-2015 I kept hearing how well they aged so decided to just put them away. Still have a decent amount of different vitolas of the regular opus line to test. We shall see.
