Popular Post hrs1 Posted July 10, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 10, 2022 Busy day yesterday. My toddler loves animals, so my wife & I packed up the kiddos first thing and headed out to our next stop on his tour of New England zoos. The little man had so much fun that he decided to skip his nap on the ride back. Of course, his Mom & Dad were thrilled. A fun-filled afternoon later, the boys are down. Mom & Dad are on the ropes. Mom taps out first. Perfect time for a petit corona I want a great cigar, but don't think I'll stay awake for long .... Siglo II it is. Rarely smoked petit coronas before having kids. Now, I'm not sure I could live without them. Read how great the '21 Siglo IIs have been and picked up this box last December from FOH. They've lived up to the hype - consistently 93/94 point smokes with one exceptional cigar flirting with 96+. As the FOH Forum Gods would have it, it's Petit Corona Review Weekend - why not try doing a review? Work's been crazy and my mind is all over the place .... feels like a great way to focus my attention on something else. Here it goes .... I pour two fingers of Glendfiddich 18 and do a quick a punch. The draw is perfect and I get faint hints of vanilla & honey. Tastes promising. I quickly light it up. The first third kicks off with the vanilla & honey plus a mocha note in the foreground. Surprisingly, a salty note makes a brief appearance. A dried berry comes in, which morphs into the classic citrus notes on the edges. The mocha turns into a rich nuttiness. This is good. The second third picks up where the first left off. The burn is even with the ash falling off around the halfway point. I'm hoping the citrus flavors will take center stage and become more distinct like the previous 96er, but they come in and out around the edges. The nuttiness fades and the vanilla + honey start to take over again. This is sweet. I can't put my finger on it, but it's almost like a cotton candy. Inching into the final third, it's still delicious. But, the complex richness is becoming less balanced. Halfway through the final third and the sweetness is gone. It's starting to get hot. Mouthfeel is getting a bit dry. The second ash drops. Time to call it a night. Overall, a great hour long, 94/95 point smoke. Perfect way to end a busy day. 17
