Popular Post RDB Posted April 19, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 19, 2022 Two Punch Punch a few nights apart, to compare with the Sig IV a few nights ago. In short, this is a great smoke, but not such a fine cigar as the Cohiba. The 2018 is REG OCT 18. Darkish, typical touch of green hue. Slightly fungal aroma at cold. Firmish draw, good construction and burn. This has plenty of richness, some rustic earthiness, and at present is balanced between sweet and savoury. Plenty of stuffing, and only my second from the box, so I expect good things in a few year’s time. The 2016 is UTE SEP 16. A lighter box, although the photo doesn’t show much difference. Similarly good draw, construction and burn. Now, this the special Punch Punch feature, which is that crazy sweet tropical top note that reminds me of juicy fruit chewing gum. It’s missing the forestry flavours: more summer than autumn for sure. Again a touch rustic. Medium body like it’s 2018 cousin. Sadly one of the last few from this excellent box. Versus the Sig IV? Pound for pound it’s a win on points for the Punch. But if money and availability are no object… then with a touch of shame I’ll take the Cohiba. 11
