Popular Post bishop532 Posted January 11, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 11, 2022 I’m a big fan of the Corona gorda size, and one of my favorites is the H Upmann Mag 46. This particular example had a very pretty rosado wrapper. The smell from the foot was earth and cedar with a touch of chocolate. The cold draw was also earth with chocolate. I smoked outside at my neighbor’s table on his back deck in the late afternoon last week, watching the sun go down. The first third kicked off with coffee and cream and a mix of woody notes - oak, cedar, maybe others. There was a hint of sweetness on the retro that I couldn’t ID. It was a perfect afternoon cigar, with those relaxing wood notes and the setting sun putting me into a bit of a trance. Things changed a bit in the second third, with a shortbread note becoming prominent as the coffee faded. The woody notes remained, and the earlier generic sweetness firmed up into vanilla notes that came and went. The burn line was great considering the wind and it was producing a lot of smoke. The last third continued the vanilla note while the coffee returned, this time minus the cream. The burn continued to impress. The cigar finished up with earth, black coffee, and a touch of chocolate. This cigar was really good. I think the afternoon suited it really well, but it wasn’t just that. It was like a shorter Sir Winston. It was complex and smooth. Plus the construction was on point. It stood up to smoking outside really well. I’d recommend the Magnum 46 without reservation, especially once it gets a few years of age on it like this one. Total Smoking Time: 1 hour 15 minutes Score: 93/100 12
